Bartow-Pell Mansion

Category: Museums
The Bartow-Pell Mansion is a museum and New York City landmark located in Pelham Bay Park in The Bronx. The current house was built in approximately 1842, but the estate goes back to 1654. The house was restored from 1915 to 1918, when the formal gardens were constructed.

The house and gardens have been open to the public as a museum since 1946.

The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is owned by the City of New York, operated by the International Garden Club, Inc. and is a member of the Historic House Trust. A New York City Landmark, the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is one of the most beautifully located country seats in the City.

The restoration of this Mansion is an outstanding example of effective preservation in New York City.
